24th Loulé International Jazz Festival
From 27 to 29 July, the Castle of Loulé hosts the 24th International Jazz Festival, a reference in this musical area, because it is one of the oldest events of the genre in the country.
In this edition, the Festival will once again count on the artistic direction of Mário Laginha, who in recent years has been essential in choosing a program that brings the best of jazz to Loulé.
The Loulé International Jazz Festival is an organization of the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Loulé, which began with the aim of promoting jazz among the Algarve community, and also in an attempt to insert this musical style in the cultural program of summer, in order to diversify the offer to tourists who visit the region. When the Festival started, it suppressed the lack of events or musical spaces dedicated to Jazz, trying to demystify the preconceived idea of Jazz as a musical style only for elites.
Throughout these years, this event has had an important pedagogical role, instigating the taste for this musical genre among the public, also contributing to the maturity of several musicians.
