From 02 March, 2018 to 24 May, 2018
33rd Algarve International Music Festival (FIMA)
The Algarve International Music Festival (FIMA) is an opportunity to discover classical music through a varied programme of fifteen concerts where the focus is on the quality and diversity of the music and the high standing of the guest artists.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul will be one of the fundamental pillars for the staging of these events, as it will provide a musical base of the very highest quality. The orchestra will be joining forces with internationally-renowned artists including violinists Francesca Dego and Pedro Meireles, guitarist Gaelle Solal, singer Elisabete Matos, cellist Paulo Gaio Lima, conductors such as Martin André and Peter Stark, and actors such as Diogo Infante.
FIMA will also be featuring guest performances by groups such as Jordi Savall & Hesperion XXI, the Chilingirian Quartet, the Doppio Ensemble and the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras. FIMA’s diversity is not merely the result of the wide range of performers but also because of the comprehensive list of styles, eras and composers featured in the event and which include Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern and Contemporary works (with various world premières).
FIMA also aims to stimulate interdisciplinarity between the different forms of artistic expression, promoting bridges with theatre and the visual arts, and to use less conventional spaces and different formats, such as concerts with multimedia support, commentated concerts and wine tasting with music.
